Madeline Cramer, Professional Counseling for Mental Health | MA, LPC, LCPC, NCC, EMDRIA Certified Therapist

Nido Qubein once said, “your present circumstances don’t determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.” Sometimes individuals have difficulty coping, or just need someone to talk to who is nonjudgmental and understanding. Madeline is passionate about making a difference in the world. Helping her clients with their mental health and being an advocate for them is one of the ways that Madeline does so.

Madeline employs a strengths-focused counseling approach, as well as a cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral theoretical orientation. This means that she builds upon the client’s strengths; considers the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; and provides tools with compassion and at times humor to support her clients in their growth. She believes that individuals have the ability to learn and grow despite difficult circumstances.

Madeline graduated from UMKC’s Masters of Counseling and Guidance in their mental health track December 2016. She is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and has specialized training in play therapy, disordered eating, mental health and the LGBTQIA+ community, suicide, grief counseling, art therapy, and marriage/family therapy. In marriage counseling, she utilizes Gottman Therapy, a practical and evidence-based theoretical approach, providing practical strategies for conflict resolution, improving communication, and improving connection.

Madeline is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Missouri,  and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Kansas. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association.
